Winter Slow Down

We were doing pretty good for a week or so on progress.  Some of the floors got poured and they look nice and smooth. 




But then this happened... the inevitable first big winter storm of the season.  Now we are buried so I am not sure what will happen with the rest of the concrete.  Unless we miraculously get an extended warm spell and a lot of melting!

 Did a bit more work finishing up the display boxes.  Filled the nail holes and did the caulking and some of the priming.  The weather has not cooperated this week though with an April snowstorm.  My display for spring includes birds, nests and other bird related items that I have made.  These displays are fun to do and have attracted some attention.  I think the UPS driver is intrigued when he delivers the packages.   I finally was able to unpack and display my collection of vintage state plates.  This large wall in the foyer is perfect for them.  Unfortunately as I hammered in the last of them a few fell off and broke!  Now I will be looking for replacements along with the ones I have been missing to complete the whole USA. On the Line

I am passionate about clotheslines.  I love everything about them and am a dedicated hanger outer through all seasons.  I can't get enough of that fresh off the clothesline smell.  So being without my clothesline for two whole years has been painful.  Not life or death but I really missed it!  It is where I breath deep and settle my mind and count my blessings.  I have had some nice clotheslines in my other homes but this one is going to be my favorite I think.  The same guys who did the fence made this for us and it is a beauty!  Sturdy and classy and stunning to look at.  I will eventually stain it a color when the wood has weathered enough but right now I am basking in its beauty!  Life is good. Going to have to tighten up those lines once the posts settle in a bit.  I have placed this clothesline steps away from our back porch so I can have access even through the snow.

Paper Houses

I finished a paper house model of our project.  Our architect, David Howard, gave us one but there has been some changes and I wanted to put the windows on the interior so I could visualize the rooms and the light.  It helps!  Also after doing this model we realized that the windows in the basement would not work on the courtyard side of the house because I wanted it all level.  Just in the nick of time because the earth movers are figuring out all the elevations right now and we can still make changes.  When I get back to NH I will play around with landscape ideas.  I doubt we will have any money left for landscaping but I dare to dream of cobblestone courtyards!
