Some Site Work and Studio

Image
There is a bit of site work going on at the house.  We are getting crushed stone (ledge) put around the perimeter of the house to deal with the drip line coming off the roof and keeping the siding clean.  There has been some grading and "Mount Drewsville", as I have named just one of the giant mounds of top soil that has grown its own ecosystem, is coming down! My studio gets a door! Some Ikea shelving put together.  This will serve as room divider and lots of storage. A visitor at my studio Just what I need is another painting project but a friend was getting rid of this secretary and it will work perfect as a desk for my area outside the pantry.  This will get an update with paint. Before pics.  The mullions on the glass was deteriorating so I am going to remove them.  I prefer the plain glass anyway. Serpentine front. Lots of cubbies and drawers.  Should be a fun project.  I am trying a new type of paint called Heirloom Traditions which has a durable finish built in.

Homemade Pipe Lighting

When it came to lighting the kitchen/pantry/entry room, I wasn't sure how to proceed because of the very high ceilings.  I saw some industrial style lighting in a British Country Living magazine but could not find the source and could find anything similar anywhere. Getting to work on the lights I was in charge of spray painting all lights and fittings once assembled.  These are the hangers. I still have to wash all the globes and attach them but I love them.  They are unique and am very proud that Thomas made t

Updates!

A lot has been happening to get us ready to move into our new home.  Here are some updates. The lights that I have been waiting for since July finally came in and I am glad I waited.  I just love them and the old mirror that my friend found for me in a local antique shop.  I told her what I was looking for and she was on the search! Here is a little light that I found on website called Beautiful Halo.  It was a color I really like and sort of quirky so we hung it outside the Master Closet area.  You can see that all the doors have been trimmed and painted.  Painting door jambs takes more time than painting window trim.  I am glad to be almost done with that. And this is where the magic happens in the office: the internet!  It took about 6 months to finally get it all hooked up from Comcast, running the line etc.  I am glad we started early with that one. The counter people were here to make the template for the kitchen counters.  Very nice guy with lots of laser beams. That appointmen
