Some More Progress

Image
The guys have been out there building even in the midst of the pandemic.  Thankfully there is lots of wide open space so social distancing is not a problem.  Either way we are grateful that the construction is continuing for now. Some of the interior framing is getting done which is great to be able to visualize the spaces now.  Exterior insulation is getting done and the metal roofing got delivered today along with some of the exterior siding. Small bedroom.  We planned for two small guest bedrooms for when the kids visit but we actually have lost some space because the wall has to be thicker to accomodate the vent pipe from the nearby bathroom.  Now it will be a tight squeeze but luckily the ceiling is high and there is a nice big window so it should "feel" bigger. You can see one half of the long hallway down the middle section.  I am standing in what will be the front door foyer and stairwell to the basement Insulation getting put on the roo

Lots of Progress

Image
The large section of the house is all walled in.  It is wonderful to see our views from the living room and kitchen.  Next comes the insulation board which goes on the outside of the building.  What you see is what you get for interior walls and studs.  It is very rustic but I love it.  All the wood will be white washed and sealed eventually to keep them from getting darker. This is our living room at one end of the large section.  We have a nice sweeping view of the farm next door and the Vermont mountains to the west.  Less of a view when all the trees get their leaves back. Looking down the center hall way from the dining area

West Wing

The west wing, aka the "bowling alley" is going up.  This will be the main living area of our home including the kitchen, living/dining, pantry and laundry room/mud room.  Now we can really envision the totality of the house.  It's getting exciting!

Stairs and Joists

Image
We were excited to see these temporary stairs because climbing up on the icy sill was a little dicey. The joists for the long section of the house, aka "the bowling alley" are going in! Looking down from the middle section.  I will be glad when all three sections are connected because this is actually a big drop down into the basement. The bents all pre-built and ready to go once the decking is on the bowling alley.
