Updates!

A lot has been happening to get us ready to move into our new home.  Here are some updates.

The lights that I have been waiting for since July finally came in and I am glad I waited.  I just love them and the old mirror that my friend found for me in a local antique shop.  I told her what I was looking for and she was on the search!

Here is a little light that I found on website called Beautiful Halo.  It was a color I really like and sort of quirky so we hung it outside the Master Closet area.  You can see that all the doors have been trimmed and painted.  Painting door jambs takes more time than painting window trim.  I am glad to be almost done with that.

And this is where the magic happens in the office: the internet!  It took about 6 months to finally get it all hooked up from Comcast, running the line etc.  I am glad we started early with that one.

The counter people were here to make the template for the kitchen counters.  Very nice guy with lots of laser beams. That appointment took one month.  This whole project has been an exercise in patience and deep breaths for me.  The counter installation is tentatively scheduled for the week of November 8.

Siding has finally begun on the last long back wall of the house.  You can tell we are entering the dreary days of November soon.  Normally this is my favorite month but now I am wishing for more good weather because it makes it so much easier for the contractor.  We still need the garage to be built.

We have been spending time getting all the building materials for the garage up on the slab to clear the way for the site work to be done.  This is all that is left of my painted gray siding.  I am coming to the end!  I have been painting siding since April along with painting all the interior (except ceilings) and the basement walls.  I think I may cry with relief when I finish the siding.  It is a race against time to get it all done while we still have warm weather.

Here is the back porch off of the laundry room.  It is larger than I expected which is great because we will have plenty of room for our grill.  It will be nice and private back here.  I hope to be looking at my clothesline soon!  It's been over a year since I've been able to hang my sheets and I do miss that.

Our friend Tanner who belongs to one of our contractor's helpers.  He is such a good dog!  He stays right around and greets everyone who comes on site.  I wish he came with the house!

And the rails were installed on the stairwell.  A huge relief for everyone.  I probably should have put in more rails for safety of little ones.  If we ever have grandchildren, we will have to do that.

There's more but I will save that for another post.
