Homemade Pipe Lighting

When it came to lighting the kitchen/pantry/entry room, I wasn't sure how to proceed because of the very high ceilings.  I saw some industrial style lighting in a British Country Living magazine but could not find the source and could find anything similar anywhere.

My husband offered to try and make some with cast iron plumbing fixtures and other lamp parts that he sourced on-line.  After purchasing many samples and doing some trial runs we finally settled on a design and found the parts that we needed.  Of course he made a spreadsheet to list all the items and quantities we needed because that is how he works.

Getting to work on the lights

I was in charge of spray painting all lights and fittings once assembled.  These are the hangers.

V for Victory.  Thomas with two of his handmade pipe lights

Today was the big day when they were installed.  They even work! I still have to wash all the globes and attach them but I love them.  They are unique and am very proud that Thomas made them himself all while recovering from hip replacement surgery.   Maybe a new hobby?

Here they are with shades attached in all their glory.  They turned out even better than we imagined and really fit the space nicely.
