How's the Painting Going?
Well I am pleased to say that the painted piles outweigh the unpainted one at the moment. It doesn't look like much but this is a lot of painting. Both sides and the edges were done. Can't wait to see it go up soon!

And a little peek at the laundry room sink. The plumbers set it there temporarily to do the rough in plumbing.

I am wondering why you chose to paint your siding? Is that standard recommendation or did you decide not to keep the weathered look. I'm not sure I like the weathered look of most firstday cottages. I'm following your build because I like some changes you've made. I also like the pickling of the inside walls. It looks very nice.

Hi Rebecca, I wanted a more finished look than letting the raw wood weather because it sometimes looks black and moldy where it doesn't get a lot of sun. I used a solid stain which the knots are still bleeding through as it is weathering. I probably will repaint in a couple of years and then it should be good for a long while. It's definitely more work but I am hoping it helps preserve the wood siding for longer as well. Thanks for your comment!
